A Shelton man has been arrested for illegal hunting in that city, according to a press release from the state Department of Environmental Protection.
Jose Gouveia, 51, was arrested Friday by the DEP’s Environmental Conservation Police after Shelton police heard a gunshot coming from Gouveia’s residence and observed a deer fall behind it, the release said.
Gouveia was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal negligent hunting, according to the release.
He is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on March 4.
